SMB has started a new European cooperation project dedicated to the responsible and inclusive use of Artificial Intelligence in adult education.

The project brings together three European organisations with complementary expertise in adult education, digital learning, inclusion and civic engagement.
Why Responsible AI in Adult Education?
Artificial Intelligence is rapidly becoming part of everyday life, education and communication. Adult educators therefore need not only technical knowledge about AI tools, but also practical competences to use them critically, ethically and inclusively.
The project aims to strengthen AI literacy among adult educators by providing practical, ethical and inclusive tools for adult learning and civic education. It will promote responsible uses of AI that enhance critical thinking, inclusion and active citizenship among adult learners.
Particular attention will be given to ensuring that AI becomes a tool for participation and empowerment rather than another source of digital exclusion.
What Will We Do?
During the project, the partners will implement five main activities:
- project coordination, quality assurance and evaluation;
- development of an AI Assistant for adult education and civic engagement;
- creation of a multilingual online training course for adult educators;
- development of a methodological guide and online resource hub with practical methods and resources;
- dissemination and exploitation of the project results through European adult education networks.
Together, these activities will help adult educators understand both the opportunities and risks associated with AI and integrate AI tools into educational activities in a responsible way.
Expected Results
The project will produce three major educational resources: a multilingual AI Assistant, an online training course, and a methodological guide and resource hub.
These resources will strengthen the capacity of adult education organisations and educators to design inclusive, participatory and ethically grounded learning activities. Ultimately, the project aims to empower adult learners to use AI critically and confidently and to participate more actively in democratic and community life.
Online Kick-off Meeting
The project officially started with an online kick-off meeting bringing together the teams from Spain, the Netherlands and Latvia.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the partners to get to know each other and establish a common understanding of the project objectives and working methods. PlaySend presented the latest information and requirements from the Spanish National Agency, while SMB introduced and discussed key Erasmus+ rules and regulations relevant to project implementation.
The partners also agreed on the immediate next steps. SMB will lead the development of the project dissemination strategy, while PlaySend will start coordinating the development of the AI Assistant for adult education and civic engagement.
The consortium also discussed the schedule of upcoming online meetings and worked on finalising the dates for the two transnational project meetings, which will take place in Amsterdam and Valencia.
The kick-off marks the beginning of our joint work to explore how Artificial Intelligence can be used not simply because it is new or efficient, but because it can contribute to more inclusive education, stronger critical thinking and meaningful civic participation.
We look forward to sharing the project’s activities, resources and results over the coming months.
